Please leave the Endangered Species Act as it is. If you want to speed up the permitting and approvals process, I suggest you hire more ecologists and environmental professionals. There is no shortage of early-career environmental professionals looking for work and they could help you meet the demands of development projects to support Ontario's population. This option would be preferable to loosening environmental regulations. Loosening regulations to allow harassment of wildlife and excluding foraging areas from the definition of habitats will limit our ability to protect Ontario's natural environment. Protecting Ontario's natural environment is an important investment for Ontario's future. Nature can help protect human settlement from extreme weather; improve human well-being thereby lowering healthcare costs; and nature has a wealth of knowledge that could help inspire new healthcare and engineering technologies. These benefits can't be realized if we don't protect endangered species. We can't protect endangered species without a robust Endangered Species Act, so please leave the Endangered Species Act as is.
