I am deeply alarmed and disappointed by the proposed rollback of the Endangered Species Act. This is not only a step backward for environmental protection in Ontario but also a dangerous precedent that prioritizes short-term economic interests over the long-term health of our ecosystems.
Weakening protections for at-risk species is irresponsible and short-sighted. These changes will accelerate habitat loss, reduce biodiversity, and harm the very natural heritage this province should be preserving. Ontarians deserve leadership that values science, sustainability, and future generations — not one that strips away crucial safeguards for our environment.
I urge the government to abandon this proposal and instead strengthen protections for endangered species. The cost of doing otherwise — to our ecosystems, communities, and climate resilience — is too great.
