Ontario's Endangered Species Act is one of the best provincial laws regarding wildlife and nature in Canada and the proposed changes would bring significant harm to species at risk in Ontario and their habitats. This proposed change is a step backwards in comparison to recent successes in Ontario and Canada when it comes to the environment. Despite the threat of tariffs and a global trade war, areas and species protected under the Endanger Species Act should be celebrated, not exploited by the Ontario government and their industry partners. For too long, industries have primarily been favoured over the environment in Ontario and Canada, and this change to the Endangered Species Act would only continue that trend. Please, for future generations of our children and the wildlife we share this province with, do not make changes to the Endangered Species Act.
