I am a registered nurse from Hamilton, Ontario. My friend works in conservation, her main role is working to protect endangered species. I was shocked to learn about these proposed changes from her.
I STRONGLY oppose dismantling the Endangered Species act. This has no scientific backing, there are more endangered species not less so why are we repealing the law? We need healthy ecosystems for clean air, water, healthy crops, weather mitigation, etc.
The rationale to 'speed up development' is unfounded. Development delays are because of slow municipalities not the Endangered Species Act.
I encourage the government to uphold the Endangered Species Act to protect our wildlife and our ecosystems. Any changes made to any acts that protects wildlife should be science-based. Let us maintain our important Canadian wildlife and protect endangered species, as the Canadian government has promised us.
