This is disgusting. What is the benefit behind this? What is the goal behind this other than to make it easier for eminent domain to take place regarding land grabs from the government?
All this does is shift accountability away from the government and onto private landowners which is well known to not be a sustainable action plan for endangered species as it expects landowners to donate privately owned land towards conservation efforts. Thus further limiting the amount of private land owned by generations of families.
There needs to be more conservation efforts made by the government. Not less. There is already countless projects and proposals that are enroaching on green space and conservation areas. But conservation and endangered species don't make province enough money therefore they must be eliminated?
This is nothing but a disgusting, underhanded, sneeky attempt at aquiring more land to develop on. And the people of Ontario do not approve.
Doug Ford has shown his distain for green space and conservation efforts by calling these spaces "nothing more than a field of weeds". With an attitude and approach such as this all of Ontario greenspace is in danger.
