I strongly oppose Bill 5, especially the removal of the Environmental Assessment for the proposed Dresden landfill. This site is near the Sydenham River, home to over 33 species at risk, including Canada’s only known population of the Salamander Mussel. Eliminating proper assessment not only endangers fragile ecosystems but also exposes local families—especially children—to potential water and soil contamination. Children are more vulnerable to pollutants, which can have lasting health impacts. Ontario must not sacrifice environmental and public health for short-term convenience.
