What Bill 5 will do to the environment is going to affect the land, water, plants and animals forever. Losing just one endangered species has a cascading effect on its habitat and whole ecosystem. We have a duty of care to all native species in Ontario and duty of stewardship for future generations.
I implore you to consider the damage that will be done for short term gain. Once a Blanding’s Turtle or Acadian Flycatcher or an Eastern Flowering Dogwood are gone, they’re gone. The world has already suffered a staggering loss of biodiversity, with species going extinct every day. Ontario should be a world leader in maintaining its Species at Risk.
Please,
Adhere to the Preamble and the Purposes of the Endangered Species Act, 2007.
Leave the determination of the List of Endangered Species to COSSARO without government intervention.
Maintain rigorous oversite before damage is done to a habitat.
We owe it to all species and future generations to preserve what we have before it’s too late.
