I am strongly opposed to eliminating Ontario’s Endangered Species Act. This legislation has been critical in protecting not just individual nests, but the broader habitats that endangered and threatened birds rely on to survive and recover. Without legal habitat protection, species will continue to decline due to habitat loss and fragmentation. Relying on voluntary measures is not enough to ensure meaningful conservation. I urge the Ontario government to maintain strong, enforceable protections for forests, wetlands, and grasslands so that future generations can continue to experience Ontario’s rich biodiversity. Please prioritize science-based conservation over short-term economic interests.
