I am writing to express deep concern regarding the proposal to revoke environmental assessment requirements for the York1 waste disposal site under the Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025.

Revoking these critical assessments raises serious questions. How can such a decision be justified when the project involves a landfill located alarmingly close to a town? The potential risks to public health, the local environment, and groundwater safety are horrifying and utterly unacceptable.

Environmental assessments exist to protect communities from precisely these risks. Removing them not only undermines public trust, but places short-term economic gain above the long-term well-being of residents and the natural environment.

I urge you to reconsider this approach and uphold the standards of environmental responsibility that Ontarians expect and deserve.
