Ontario’s planning and environmental laws are built on the principle of local engagement and shared governance. By stripping away the Environmental Assessment requirement, the province is overriding our community’s right to assess, respond to, and protect itself from a high-risk project. Dresden is not an industrial zone—it is a rural town with families, farmers, and schools. Our elected Council, our legal team, and our residents have all made it clear that this landfill poses unacceptable risks. Bypassing the EA would strip us of our right to due process, environmental justice, and a say in the future of our home.
