This dangerous bill could not come at a worse time for the accelerating climate crisis that threatens my daughter's future and our treasured biodiversity that's already being trampled by urban sprawl.
Here is why you must drop this bill:
Species Protection - The bill would repeal the Endangered Species Act and replace it with the Species Conservation Act which weakens habitat protections and clears the way for development in sensitive areas.
Renewable Energy - The bill would enable the government to ban all parts of energy projects that come from abroad, especially China (a major producer of solar panels and wind turbines) and would likely end solar power installation in Ontario. Do you really want to be the government that took away Ontarians' right to install solar power?
The Rule of Law - The bill would allow the Ford government to create “special economic zones” where “trusted proponents” (i.e. whoever the Premier chooses) could be exempted from all provincial and municipal laws (environmental, labour, traffic, health and safety laws, and municipal laws).
Indigenous Rights - The bill would undermine Indigenous sovereignty and the constitutional right of Indigenous communities to free, prior and informed consent.
I am very against this corrupt power grab!
