I am writing as a concerned citizen to express my firm opposition to Bill 5.
This bill threatens Ontario’s natural heritage by weakening the Endangered Species Act, reducing protections for wetlands, forests, and sensitive habitats, and prioritizing short-term development over long-term environmental sustainability. These changes put countless species at risk and jeopardize the ecosystems that Ontarians depend on for clean water, flood protection, biodiversity, and quality of life.
I urge you to withdraw or significantly amend Bill 5 to restore strong environmental protections and ensure that land-use decisions are made with transparency, science, and the well-being of future generations in mind.
Ontario deserves policies that balance housing needs with responsible environmental stewardship—not legislation that opens the door to irreversible damage.
Please stand up for nature, our communities, and the legacy we leave behind.
