This approach is neither democratic nor aligned with Canadian or Indigenous values. The extraction of non-renewable resources and the disruption of ecosystems have irreversible consequences. These actions serve the interests of a small, affluent minority, while undermining broader economic, environmental, and community well-being. Moreover, these entities often provide minimal reinvestment into Canada, yet extract disproportionate value—depleting our natural assets and jeopardizing other sectors of our economy without sufficient justification. Policymaking must prioritize long-term sustainability and inclusive prosperity over short-term, extractive gains.
