The proposed site will be visible from my home. It is completely unacceptable that there be a waste disposal site this close to the established community of Dresden. By-passing the required Environmental assessment, which would identify risks to our water and wildlife, including the creek that runs directly to the Syndenham waterway is irresponsible. It is a bare minimum requirement to protect our community. By-passing this assessment is irresponsible on many levels. There are many sites closer to the 401 corridor that don't run adjacent to local communities.
There is no proposed funding for infrastructure, the numerous heavy trucks that would service the proposed site would damage our tax-funded municipal roads.
This will affect our property value, as no one would want to live within sight of this disposal area and the noise/traffic/light pollution that will result from the proposed facilities and production plan. We have been improving our property for 10 years, enjoying views of the countryside and increasing our resale value in preparation for retirement. This disposal site will completely crush those plans, affecting our retirement.
The government has failed to acknowledge the concern from the town of Dresden, residents and business owners. They have failed to propose other sites that would not impact communities. They have failed to provide an infrastructure plan to support and have not held York 1 responsible for any planning outside of the main property. Now the government wishes to avoid responsibility for impact to the local environment and waterways. This is unacceptable.
