I object to this proposal in the strongest possible terms. The proposed exemptions from the Environmental Bill of Rights will remove the right of Ontario's to be advised or to comment on any required permits at Ontario Place or off site.
The Environmental Bill f Rights exists to protect Ontario's environment in all its forms for future generations. This is very important to me. The fragile ecosystem in and around Ontario Place does not belong to the government of Ontario to destroy or do with as it likes, it belongs to all the citizens of Ontario and it is our responsibility to protect it for the future.
This proposal is NOT in the public interest and serves only to benefit the private interests of foreign companies and whatever local companies are benefitting from the destruction of Ontario Place.
The proposals represent one more incursion into environmental protection and citizen's rights to be informed, at a time of climate catastrophe and resulting biodiversity crisis.
Just the title of the proposed legislation makes my skin crawl, this will result in further environmental destruction in the service of private developers.
