I strongly oppose Bill 5, which seeks to repeal Ontario’s Endangered Species Act, strip away vital environmental protections, and centralize power in the hands of the cabinet to approve industrial development without public input.
This bill poses a serious threat to Ontario’s biodiversity, undermining decades of progress in protecting species at risk and their habitats. By removing science-based decision-making and silencing public voices, Bill 5 prioritizes short-term economic interests over the long-term health of our environment and communities.
We must not sacrifice our natural heritage and ecological integrity. I urge the government to withdraw this bill and uphold the democratic principles and environmental safeguards that Ontarians value and depend on.
