I think it's clear why this is proposed if you think about who directly benefits. Who benefits from deregulation? Companies, real estate developers, investors. The same people who donates to PCC and the current leaders in the Ontario government.
With less regulations in the way properties can be built on grounds that were previously protected.
Animal rights issues aside you can't even argue that it's better for the people of Ontario. We all know these companies (often friends and donors of politicians) are going to over charge us and profit off of the properties that are built anyway while underpaying their workers.
Slashing regulation only benefits people who are going to abuse the system further, the people that are in power, the people that have money. It doesn't benefit the people of Ontario, you know, the ones that actually vote and pay taxes for the government to function.
Serve the people that voted you in and pays your salaries.
