I would like to register my profound disappointment with the proposed changes to the already far too weak protections afforded to Species at Risk and valuable habitats and environments in Ontario. Loss of Biodiversity is at epidemic proportions. I fear much more a future where biodiversity is not adequately cared for and considered than I fear a future of diminished levels of prosperity and wealth. We can live at a lower income level with fewer material goods but we cannot live without a healthy environment and a diverse array of creatures in our world.
These actions are definitely a step back to the retrogressive policies of the past - have we learned nothing? You are taking away my children's rights to a healthy environment in order to provide for immediate increased wealth and higher living standards today. This is a one way street - we cannot correct the loss of biodiversity once it is gone. You are robbing my children and my grandchildren of what they deserve. Shame on you!
