I strongly oppose the proposed exemption of Ontario Place redevelopment from Part II of the Environmental Bill of Rights, 1993. Removing essential environmental protections in the name of economic development and streamlined approvals is short-sighted and dangerous.

This move prioritizes profit and waste disposal convenience over long-term public health, ecological integrity, and the survival of species at risk. Sacrificing environmental safeguards will likely lead to increased pollution and degradation of our natural spaces, which undermines the very goal of creating livable communities.

What’s the point of building new housing or amenities if people won’t want to live here due to environmental decline, health risks, or loss of biodiversity? Development must not come at the cost of our environment—it should respect and integrate with it.

I urge the government to reconsider this exemption and uphold the public’s right to participate in decisions that impact our shared natural heritage.
