We cannot live without biodiversity: humans evolved as part of ecological communities, when ecosystems are destroyed we will also be destroyed. Whoever wrote these amendments has no understanding of this. For example, a vascular plant species needs much more than the 'critical root zone' in order to survive. Where are its nutrients coming from? What about pollinators, seed dispersers, etc? Similarly, animals need more than a 'dwelling place', where do they get food from? find mates? disperse to? Please take some basic ecology courses before seeking to amend this bill in a completely uninformed way that will cause only harm to our already dramatically dwindling biodiversity - and in turn, harm to humans. Doug Ford does not care about the environment or biodiversity. But short-term increases in economic production that do not factor in environmental protection will not translate into longer-term comfort or sustainability if all that remains are humans, rats, dandelions and cockroaches. Wake up! Get educated!
