The reason the process “takes too long” is because it is necessary to protect the wildlife. This bill is basically saying “I don’t want to think about the hard this could cause. Build away!!” This is the sort of thinking that leads to people saying “what about all these annoying regulation that keep our food safe and our water drinkable? Let’s get rid of those too! They make processes so unnecessarily lengthy and annoying to deal with.”
Then we end up with companies that will skimp on food safety. And then people get sick.
These sorts of thing only end up causing harm in the long run. And no. The harm to wildlife should never be less important than building a house.
The solution to housing is also not building more single family homes in suburbs that require cars to get to. Invest in housing that doesn’t potentially destroy wildlife and hurt the environment. Invest in middle housing. This bill should NOT pass.
