The Endangered Species Act exists because scientists have told us the value of protecting species and the importance of biodiversity not only to our ecosystem but to ourselves. Once a species is gone, it is gone. And we don't always understand how the species rely on each other.
The Ford government routinely dismisses the expertise that we need in order to make informed decisions, preferring instead to plow ahead with little regard to the consequences. I hope this attempt to push through harmful legislation will be stopped in time.
