I oppose this bill. I do not think the government should be the sole decision makers as to what species are on or off the endangered species list: government has a vested interest in building contracts that benefit their wallets and not the greater good (Green Belt scandal).
I oppose the following in the bill: “proponents will be able to get projects started as soon as they have completed their online registration, provided they are following the rules in regulation. This eliminates the step of waiting for the ministry to review and approve permits.”
Review is needed and necessary to protect the endangered species. Checks and balances must be in place or else greed will outweigh the need for conservation.
