I am writing to express my deep concern over the proposed repeal of vital environmental protections outlined in Bill 5.

This legislation appears to reverse years of progress in safeguarding our province’s ecosystems, clean water sources, and biodiversity. These protections are not just environmental—they are fundamentally tied to the long-term health, safety, and economic resilience of our communities.

Environmental stewardship should not be seen as an obstacle to development, but as a foundation for sustainable growth. Eroding these safeguards risks increasing flooding, compromising air and water quality, and destabilizing natural habitats that are essential to Ontario's ecological balance. These effects will not only impact nature—they will ripple into public health, infrastructure costs, and the overall wellbeing of Ontarians now and in generations to come.

Ontarians have consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to protecting our green spaces, conserving wildlife, and ensuring our children inherit a livable future. Proposed Bill 5, in its current form, undermines those values.

I urge you to reconsider this path. I ask that you engage in meaningful consultation with environmental experts, Indigenous communities, and the public to ensure that any legislative change prioritizes long-term sustainability over short-term interests.

Leadership means making decisions today that future generations will thank us for. Please choose a path that protects Ontario’s environmental legacy.
