What Bill 5 is proposing is abhorrent. I refuse Bill 5, I do not want Bill 5 to proceed. These animals I’ve linked with this comment are endangered, at risk, or threatened. What bill 5, which I do not want to happen will effectively do is allow contractors, construction companies and economic greed to dictate which animals get to continue to live on this land. As a member of the indigenous community, Onondaga Nation, I refuse Bill 5. When an animal goes instinct we do not get them back, we read about them online and look at illustrations of what they used to look like. I do not want to tell kids how there used to be all these species of animals who lived in Ontario. Now because of Bill 5, we don’t have those animals living anymore. A bill that could have been prevented by people in charge who are reading this comment. This new bill will cause damage and harm to the animals I’ve linked. There is a part in Bill 5, that explains how people will just need to register online and they are able to commit harm to endangered species. Imagine if this were your backyard or your neighbours. How someone could register online and start harassing your pet, putting them in harms way all for a new road, or in the name of new economic growth. Would you allow such things to happen? Would you stand idly by when you could have done something, anything to protect them? I refuse Bill 5, I do not want it to proceed.
