I oppose Bill 5.
I believe we need stronger environmental protection rights. Habitat loss, polluted rivers, an increase in toxic algae blooms in fresh waters, an increase in invasive species (both plant and animal), and the loss of agricultural land over the past 10 years should be enough to signal that we are encroaching on lands that were not meant to be concrete paradises.
Bill 5 allows for selective priorities to be given to industries at the expense of our environment, which I do not agree with. I oppose shortcuts for industry with no public oversight. I oppose overriding the law in special economic zones.
We need more environmental and industry standards, not less.
