I strongly oppose Bill 5 and the development of “special economic zones” that can override laws and reduce environmental protections. Thorough consultation processes are so important and ensure that development projects minimize harm to the environment and people living in the area.

Short term economic gain from mining projects should not be prioritized over the long term impacts of these projects that will degrade the quality of life for future generations. The public is entitled to consultation for these projects and the government has a duty to consult with First Nations communities. I do not support a Bill that would take this away.
