I strongly oppose Schedule 10 of Bill 5, which seeks to repeal Ontario’s Endangered Species Act (ESA). This move would eliminate science-based protections for over 270 at-risk species and replace them with a weaker framework that prioritizes short-term development over long-term environmental health.
Biodiversity is not expendable. It supports clean water, climate resilience, and the overall health of our ecosystems. Repealing the ESA threatens these vital systems and disregards our responsibility to future generations.
Ontarians deserve legislation that protects our natural heritage, not one that compromises it. I urge you to withdraw this harmful schedule and commit to strengthening, not weakening, species and habitat protections in Ontario.
