I strongly oppose Bill 5, the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act. This legislation poses a
serious threat to endangered species in Ontario by proposing to repeal the Endangered Species Act.
Repealing it with "vague" goals and unenforceable measures will lead to further decline of species at risk
already on the brink of extinction.s l
I also object to your creation of special economic zones that would allow cabinet to approve major development projects without proper environmental assessment, public input or Indigenous consultation.
I urge the Ontario government not to proceed with Bill 5 and instead work with environmental experts
Indigenous leaders and the public to strngthen our environmental protection for species at risk.
