I am strongly opposed to Doug Ford’s Bill 5 initiative. This bill undermines the integrity of our environmental protections at a time when we need them most. I believe in prioritizing the health of our ecosystems, the preservation of green spaces, and the protection of endangered species—none of which are adequately safeguarded under Bill 5. I reject the idea of giving industry shortcuts that allow them to bypass environmental assessments and public consultation. Furthermore, I am firmly against the use of special economic zones to override existing laws and planning frameworks, which sets a dangerous precedent and puts community voices and democratic processes at risk. Ontario deserves leadership that prioritizes sustainability, transparency, and long-term environmental stewardship.
