Ontario's plan to change its endangered species law (ERO 025-0380) is a bad idea because it weakens protections for plants and animals that are at risk. Instead of carefully reviewing projects to make sure they don’t harm these species, the government wants to let developers start work right away after a simple registration. This could destroy habitats before anyone checks if it's safe. The plan also gives the government the power to decide which species get protected, ignoring scientists who study this. It even changes the meaning of important words like "habitat" and removes rules that stop people from disturbing these animals. These changes put quick profits ahead of protecting nature, risking the survival of species we need to care for. This isn't worth a quick buck in a select few's pockets. These are Ontario's animals, and we have the responsibility to protect them!
