I strongly oppose Bill 5. This legislation undermines environmental protections at a time when we should be strengthening them. By making it optional to list endangered species and weakening habitat protections, Bill 5 puts vulnerable wildlife at greater risk. It also removes automatic safeguards that ensure timely conservation action and streamlines development at the expense of biodiversity. Ontario should be leading on environmental stewardship, not rolling back protections that have taken years to build. I urge lawmakers to reject this bill and prioritize a future where economic progress does not come at the cost of ecosystems and species survival.
I want stronger environmental protections and the protection of endangered species. I oppose shortcuts for industry at the expense of the environment. I oppose overriding the law in special economic zones.
