I oppose bill 5 and any action without public oversight. In order to grow an economy, we need to FIRST have sustained and healthy environmental ecosystems. We cannot properly repair the damage once they are gone. As a province, our physical and mental wellbeing, our education, and our food depend on our protection of the environment. There is greater economical benefit to protecting the environment because it stabilizes those factors, and changing the Act would put those factors in jeopardy.
The species at risk with this change are worth far more than the perceived benefit that comes from the change, and the loss of every one of them brought by this change means lining your pockets with a meager few cents on the back of every lost animal, tree, and healthy individual. The negative changes brought to our water systems, our soil stability, and our ecosystem balance will not discriminate. Leave the Act alone and strengthen our environmental protections.
