I am writing to express my deep concern and opposition to the proposed bill Endangered Species Act , R.S.O. 2007, which I believe undermines critical environmental protections and disregards our responsibility to safeguard vulnerable species.
At a time when we are being asked to shoulder the burden of a carbon tax in an effort to combat climate change, it is deeply troubling to witness legislation that would simultaneously jeopardize our planet’s most at-risk ecosystems and species. This contradiction not only reflects a lack of compassion for the environment but also suggests that corporate or short-term economic interests are being prioritized over long-term ecological sustainability and the well-being of future generations.
Allowing such a bill to pass would set a dangerous precedent, signaling that environmental degradation and the exploitation of vulnerable wildlife are acceptable trade-offs. As stewards of the planet, it is our moral and civic duty to protect the natural world and the countless species that depend on it for survival.
I urge you to reject this harmful legislation and instead advocate for policies that preserve biodiversity, protect our most fragile ecosystems, and support a just and sustainable future for all.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to seeing leadership that prioritizes environmental justice and the protection of our planet’s invaluable natural heritage.
