I strongly oppose bill 5. Passing this bill would be a huge mistake and a huge setback in meeting Canadas 30X30 conservation targets, while also putting our children’s future in danger.
Wasn’t a big take away from the Covid 19 pandemic that we are extremely reliant on natural spaces? As someone who was on the frontlines of meeting those demands for Canadians for the entirety of the pandemic, I am disheartened that Doug Ford would try to pass this bill. The protection of endangered species is way more than just creating a hurdle for large industry, it’s protecting thriving interconnected ecosystems that affect our everyday.
I want stronger protection for endangered species and our natural spaces, I oppose shortcuts for industry with no public oversight, and I oppose overriding the law in special economic zones.
