This proposal accuses the Endangered Species Act of being vague, but instead proposes even more vague language that will clearly not protect these species. This is tantamount to a death sentence for numerous species in the name of cronyism and developer profiteering.

Further, this has nothing to do with protecting Ontario. Ontario's economic troubles began before the threat of tariffs (see attached article). Protecting Ontario would mean ensuring that we have strong environmental controls and institutions, so that our air, water, biodiversity, and food supply would be sustained and improved, thus contributing to our economy, society, and the livability of Ontario. Threatening these things in the name of short term development makes Ontario more dependent on external products and markets and thus, more vulnerable to the threats this bill purports to address.

This is clearly the same blatant insiderism and corruption that was exposes during the Greenbelt scandal. Ontarians made it very clear then, that this is neither the will of Ontarians, nor is it in their best interests. I demand that the government repeal this harmful, draconian, undemocratic, and unpatriotic legislation, and instead work with environmental grounds, scientific and technical experts, Indigenous communities, and the public through due process to create a collaborative future for Ontario.
