Im against key elements of this proposal.
Our ecosystems in Canada are vital to our survival as a species. We elect our officials to come up with unique solutions for these unique problems.
So we have:
A) a current housing & social resources crisis
B) a responsibility to protect our species and environments for the prosperity of Canadians to come
Ok. These two problems can be solved without removing permit requirements and establishing registration with... hopes people will follow the rules? That's absolutely not how it's going to play out and you know it. People will "register," do what they want while damaging species and ecosystems, and then what? Get a hefty fine? Go to court where the clarity of what an animal's habitat will be clear (because it's being generously proposed to assert a proper definition) BUT the animal won't have that habitat anymore anyway?
No. We need to be better.
Look for development in places where species are not endangered.
Allow for due process - environmental ministries and organizations are crucial for our future. We want them to have seats at the table.
Work in tandem with sustainable community organizations.
I don't work for the government in this department but I will face the repercussions of these choices for decades to come. I will help come up with solutions to this or support unique solutions you can generate! Our generation has made it clear - we want to be a part of the best Canadian future we can have. To succeed with the rest of the world.
Population growth does not have to be at the expense of our environment.
Be better.
We'll support it.
