I am strongly opposed to Bill 5, which weakens protections for Ontario’s endangered species and undermines environmental oversight. Redefining how species at risk are classified and protected opens the door for harmful development and short-term economic gains at the expense of long-term ecological health. This bill shifts power away from scientific experts and public accountability, and instead prioritizes industry interests. Ontario’s rich biodiversity is not a resource to be exploited—it is a legacy to be protected. I urge lawmakers to reject Bill 5 and stand up for environmental responsibility, science-based conservation, and the protection of future generations.
