I strongly oppose Bill 5 and am honestly in shock/disgusted this is being tabled. Why we would entrust the government (any party) to oversee environmental decisions is perplexing based on history. For that reason, the environment should continue to be overseen by the scientific community.
I also strongly oppose the creation of "special economic zones". To completely suspend environmental regulations is irresponsible, especially when the government would be the ones overseeing / thus selecting these zones. I appreciate a need to look at the development process with a goal of expediting it AND ignoring mother earth, the animals (some could be endangered) and the ecosystem as a whole is BEYOND IRRESPONSIBLE.
When will this STOP. When will we realize the planet is not an endless resource for us to take from/ignore. This is about our own well being, one that must work with the planet.
Shortcuts for industry cannot supersede our planet - PERIOD. I expect and frankly demand strong environmental protections and know there are enough smart Ontarians to figure out what this is.
