I oppose Bill 5. I want stronger environmental protections and the protection of endangered species. I oppose shortcuts for industry. I oppose overriding the law in special economic zones. Passing a bill that facilitates environmental degradation will reverse essential progress that has made towards the conservation of biodiversity. Since habitat degradation is the single most prevailing factor responsible for the endangerment of species today (Canada.ca), this bill is counterintuitive: it will only cause more species to become at risk, which will create more backlash for the government and companies participating in habitat degradation. Please, if you care about wildlife and nature, do not pass this devastating bill.
