Bill 5 is a blatant attack on environmental protection and accountability in public office. Gutting safeguards for endangered species while simultaneously refusing to hold local leaders accountable for harassment shows a government more committed to enabling exploitation—of land and people—than protecting either. This legislation prioritizes profit over ecosystems, power over justice, and sets a dangerous precedent that undermines the very fabric of a responsible, equitable society. Passing this bill would be a disgrace to indigenous communities, Ontarian settlers, and Canada as whole.
