As a scientist and resident of Ontario, I strongly oppose this bill. This bill would eliminate key environmental protections as well as legal safeguards to protect Indigenous people and their land. This bill will help corporations at the expense of the environment and vulnerable communities. We can advance the economy without this kind of removal of our critical obligations to heed impartial scientific advice and consult meaningfully with the Indigenous communities whose land and lives are at stake.
