I emphatically urge the Government of Ontario to deny the proposal for Bill 5.
As a lifelong Ontarian, this proposal offends me to my core. Not only will it guarantee an existential threat for Ontario wildlife by replacing the Endangered Species Act with the far more careless Species Conservation Act, but the Special Economic Zones Act also spits in the face of the democracy that allowed our province to thrive in the first place. Select few already wealthy individuals will be able to supersede environmental protections, worker protections, and First Nations rights without regulation or repercussions.
It is reckless, ruthless, and a bald-faced depiction of blind greed. Please, show me that this is not what the province I was raised in will become.
