I am deeply concerned about the legislation being proposed by this government and I vehemently oppose it.
Bill 5 is a horrific assault against our environment, threatening to further erode safeguards in place to protect our water, soil, air and communities that depend on them - beyond this generation.
I am repulsed that it will repeal the Endangered Species Act - thus placing these vulnerable species at further risk.
Our government should know by now that everything depends on healthy ecosystems. We watch daily the deadly impact of climate change around the world (and here at home) ans a result of the catastrophic events that are related to a warming planet.
In addition, this alarming move enables the provincial government to unilaterally do away with legal safeguards that protect vulnerable communities and Indigenous people, paving the way for corporations to bypass labour and environmental laws.
I do not support this nonsense, even with the emphasis on economic growth and development. Not everything is about money. The long term effects are simply not worth the price!!
