The proposal of a hunting season for the double crested cormorant, a bird twice almost wiped out here, is ill considered and cruel. The length of season will kill a generation of chicks cruelly through starvation, cold and heat. These birds are defenceless, provide no sport as game birds go, and would be disaterously impacted. A bag limit of 50 will lead to endangerment of the species. Please, consider the scientific data before making such an irresponsible and irreparable mistake.
