We have already done so much harm to the land and the creatures we share it with. We should be investing in conservation efforts and ensuring we aren’t spreading the city out or optimizing it at the expense of our wildlife. Doug Fore has already shown us that he should not be trusted with environmental matters and so I believe having as many checks and balances and delays serves us more than it hurts us in the long run. The only reason Doug didn’t get away with developing the greenbelt was because it took too long and people caught wind. Creating a system where environmental concerns may be more easily steamrolled before the public becomes aware is in the interest of no common Ontarian, only those who stand to make a profit. The land does not exist for our use it is to exist with us and if we can’t find ways to develop without sacrificing fauna and flora then we should not be developing, get more caring, concerned, and smarter people working on these proposals and I’m sure there are answers to be found.
