Our endangered species and natural wildlife is important to protect. The decimation of species has a long term impact on our agriculture and natural world. Many countries throughout the world have found ways to build and develop without threatening their natural wildlife (ex. Australia, New Zealand). This piece of legislation is lazy and short sighted. If we want to be a world leader, we should be leading by example and focused on development projects that are forward thinking, balancing our need for expansion with thoughtful integration into our wild spaces. Taking shortcuts simply benefits the wealthy in the short-term but takes away from wealth in the long term. We have more to gain by keeping our wildlife and protecting our species. This government has consistently been focused on short term gains at the expense of the long-term. If Doug Ford truly wants to craft a legacy for himself, he'd be thinking ahead to the lasting impacts of his legislation.
