I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed changes under Bill 5. I have witnessed several development projects halted due to the discovery of important wildlife habitats, such as foxes and rattlesnake dens. These pauses are not obstacles they infact necessary measures to protect ecosystems that have no voice to speak for themselves.
Granting developers the ability to bypass critical environmental assessments simply because they have the financial means undermines the important work environmentalists do to safeguard biodiversity and natural habitats. Displacing wildlife by destroying their habitats does not eliminate the problem—it relocates it, which will potentially lead to greater ecological imbalances elsewhere. You’re just sweeping it under the rug and dealing with it later kind of situation. It’s like
When you quit a habit you move into another habit. Pushing environmental ecosystems is just gonna create a bigger issue down the road.
A balanced approach is essential. Environmental experts should be allowed to properly assess land use so that sustainable solutions can be found—ones that allow human development and ecosystems to coexist. Allowing automatic registration for projects without adequate review puts our environment and future at risk.
I urge you to reconsider this bill and prioritize long-term environmental stewardship over short-term economic convenience. Your viewing the short term
Outcomes not the long term, your not thinking of our future for safety just selfishly thinking about getting richer to easily bypass these permits and laws. Shame On you.
