I understand the need for housing and road structures. However, when did 'red tape' become a bad work? These regulations were made to protect our environment, our heritage, and our people. When environmental assessments, Indigenous people, and builders work together on a project it is a well-oiled machine that accomplishes much for Ontarians. The process is in place to continue to make this province a wonderful place to live, work, and play. If we pave over farmland, how can we say we support local food suppliers? If we pave over wetlands, how can we maintain our beautiful watershed areas? If we bulldoze trees, we will lose their cooling effects, their root systems that hold the soil, as well as the species that live in and on the trees. I know of spaces in my district that have great flat land that would be perfect for affordable housing. That would contribute to our society, not ruin it. Please do not put this Bill 5 into action and compromise the Ontario that we love.
