Often times we humans view non-human species and their ecosystems as unimportant, but the truth is that they provide so many benefits to us, whether direct or indirect. One such example is wetland ecosystems: they possess many natural flooding prevention properties (and each species contributes to this process). What's the point of building developments over wetlands when years or even months down the line, everything will flood? Who benefits besides the developers who make a quick ROI?
